Food Assistance

Referred to at the federal level as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), and known in Ohio as the Food Assistance (FA) program, this program provides assistance to low income families and individuals to help them obtain nutritious food. Funds are made possible by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through county job and family services departments and may be used to purchase specific staples and grocery items at participating grocery stores.

Benefits are provided via the Electronic Benefits Transfer system similar to a debit card. Eligibility is based on federal guidelines including income and household size.
